Bazilu Windyboy, Piyaláashanmay, was born in Toppenish, Washington and raised in both Toppenish and Priest Rapids, Washington. She attended the University of Montana and pursued a career in law enforcement and public service. She received her Federal Law Enforcement Training Certificates in Corrections and Police Officer Certification and her Supervisor’s Training Certificate from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI LEEDA).

Drawing on her law enforcement background, Windyboy has made public safety and community advocacy central to her work on the Yakama Nation Tribal Council. She serves as Chairwoman of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Committee and serves on the following Committees: Loan, Extension, Education and Housing Committee (Secretary); Health, Employment, Welfare, Recreation, Youth Activities Committee (Member); Legislative Committee (Secretary); and Law and Order Committee (Secretary).

Windyboy is committed to raising awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous People issues and strengthening public safety within the Yakama Nation. She also works to help Tribal members better understand the programs and services available to them and how to access the benefits and resources offered by the Yakama Nation.

Through her advocacy and leadership, Windyboy seeks to improve communication between Tribal government and community members while promoting awareness, accountability, and access to services.
